Cianbro Awarded New Project for Brewer’s Eastern Manufacturing Facility Cianbro has been awarded a new project to construct 22 Electrical Rooms, contracted by Vale (pronounced VAL-ee), an international mining company headquartered in Brazil.
The electrical rooms will be installed in a nickel processing plant that Vale is constructing in Long Harbour, Newfoundland, Canada. “The electrical rooms are steel structures which will house the electrical equipment to operate the nickel mining processing plant,” said Cianbro Vice President Joe Cote. “The structures are roughly 120 feet long, approximately 30 to 40 feet wide, and range from 20 to 65 feet in height. Cianbro will fabricate the electrical rooms at its Eastern Manufacturing Facility in Brewer, Maine. Once completed, the structures will be loaded onto barges and then shipped to Long Harbour.”
“We are extremely proud to win this project,” said Cianbro Chairman and CEO Pete Vigue. “There is limited module construction activity in North America at this time, and we are thoroughly honored to be selected to be part of the Long Harbour project. This award is clear evidence of the confidence that our clients have in our people and our company, and in our ability to satisfy their needs.”
Cianbro has begun work on planning and design of the structures. The actual construction work will begin later this fall, and is scheduled to be completed in the second quarter of 2012.
