PEAKS is actively developing several Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) and Hydrogen projects both within Summit’s utility territories and beyond.
We have an exciting opportunity open for a RNG Operations Technician (I, II, or III) based in Clinton, ME. We are offering a $6,000 sign on bonus!
POSITION SUMMARY
This role is an opportunity to play a key role in the operation of an important renewable energy project here in Maine. The primary responsibilities of the RNG Operations Technician include a full range of duties associated with the operations and maintenance of the facilities (Clinton and surrounding farms). It will be important that in addition to manual labor supporting the operation, the candidate is also interested in and able to learn and become proficient with technical equipment and software.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct day-to-day operations and maintenance of the plant, which will involve working with mechanical and electrical equipment, including mixers, pumps, compressors, gas purification systems and pipelines
Respond to alarm conditions, diagnose, troubleshoot and correct digester and plant malfunctions
Adhere to company and project specific health and safety requirements, participate in monthly safety audits and inspections
Achieve and maintain Operations Qualification (OQ) certification to company standards, passing required written tests and field evaluations
Maintain administrative records including logbook, filing system for drawings, instruction books and manuals, spare parts inventory and records, and compliance forms
Routinely operate a motor vehicle and/or off-road vehicle on undeveloped terrain
Be willing, able, and qualified to serve on the On-call assignment rotation as soon as possible following hire date; Able to work overtime including call outs outside of normal business hours, weekends and holidays
Perform general clean up at job sites and observe and implement proper safety practices
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
High School or GED preferred
Experience requirements vary by level
Tech I: Experience working with mechanical equipment such as pumps, mixers, and piping.
Tech II: Minimum of 2 years of experience at an RNG Production Facility and/or equivalent time spent working on relevant mechanical equipment (pumps, mixers, piping, etc.).
Tech III: Minimum of 4 years of experience at an RNG Production Facility and/or equivalent time spent working on relevant mechanical and measurement equipment (pumps, mixers, meters, gas chromatographs (GCs), piping, etc.).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
A technical degree in an electrical or mechanical field is preferable, or equivalent work experience with electrical, instrument control and mechanical systems, including equipment such as motors, blowers, controls and pumps
Familiar with gas compression and/or gas transportation
Effective interpersonal skills needed to ensure team success and excellent partner and contractor relations
Basic computer skills and proficiency with MS Office applications
Strong time management practices required to multi-task several projects
Good verbal and written communication skills required for dealing with internal departments, project partners and vendors and completing required paperwork
Demonstrated strong work ethic; shows initiative to support whatever is needed to ensure the successful operation of the facility
Understanding of the importance of learning and practicing safety principles
The position is covered under the D.O.T. regulations and Summit Utilities Drug and Alcohol Policy and is, therefore, subject to all terms of the Policy, including the random selection for drug testing.
