Common Ground Community Builders is an integrated development, construction and maintenance company serving the midcoast region of Maine.  We are looking for an estimator and project controls specialist with potential to grow into management role.  This role is ideal for an organized, detail-oriented person who needs or wants to work primarily from home.  We estimate this position to be 80% remote (work from home) and 20% in the field at project sites, with flexible work hours. Work directly with company founders and investors to deliver exceptional projects to the communities in which we work and live in Maine.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of relevant experience (as a project engineer, estimator, project controls or project manager) in any of the following: (i) Commercial construction; (ii) Residential construction, (iii) Architecture; or (iv) Interior Design.

• Detail orientated and financially minded.

• Ability to plan, organize, and oversee the finances of multiple projects.

• Skilled with spreadsheets such as Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Interface directly with field managers, company principals and clients regarding project budgets and schedules.

• Prepare initial project estimates working with company principals, field managers, suppliers and subcontractors.

• Implement systems and processes to monitor progress toward on-time and on-budget project completion.

• Work with company controller to monitor project cash flows and ensure invoices are timely processed and sent to clients.

• Work with field supervision to exchange real time information and data regarding project progress.

• Implement processes to improve the rate of production on projects, and their associated costs.

• Manage financial aspects of contracts (fee payment, rental equipment, income/expenses, etc.) to protect company’s interest and simultaneously maintain good relationship with client and Architect.

• Ensure job cost reports are timely and accurately updated.

• Assume additional responsibilities or special projects as needed.
