Stream Crossing Installation & Shore Stabilization Techniques

Stream Crossing Installation – During this 4-hour introductory course, participants will be exposed to aspects of stream crossing design such as structure selection and sizing, requirements for aquatic organism passage, regulations related to new and replacement stream crossings, as well as tools and techniques for the installation of crossings that minimize the impact of construction activities on the stream to maintain water quality and provide fish passage.

Shore Stabilization – In this course, participants will be exposed to the factors leading to shoreline erosion, how land use and behavior affects shorelines, state permitting standards related to shoreline stabilization, the importance of vegetation and other natural processes in stabilization of shorelines, and how to minimize impacts to the water on shoreline projects.

This 8-hour 2-part class qualifies for 8 Continuing Education Hours (CEH) for individuals Certified in Erosion Control Practices by Maine DEP.

NEW CLASS **Engaging the Generational Divide**

You may wonder why we discuss different generations in the workplace. Many conflicts arise from two people seeing the same situation through different lenses. Each of the four current generations in our workplace have different general characteristics, communication styles, and needs. Understanding each generation can help any employee better navigate workplace relationships and interactions. OSHA 10-Hour Training

A basic course recommended by OSHA as an orientation to occupational safety and health for workers covered by OSHA 29 CFR 1926. OSHA 10 is the standard in the industry for any entry-level and a must for supervisors and foremen who manage sites. AGC Maine provides a higher level of training by incorporating current fire supervisors and foremen who apply the principles of safety in life experiences useful to everyone on the job site today.

Work Zone Safety Supervisor Course

This course provides a working knowledge of the “Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (2009) and will include:

Flagger Trainer Certification

All privately employed flaggers must have training consistent with the “Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.” This course will train and test participants to be the Maine Department of Transportation (MDOT) “Flagger Certifiers,” who are responsible for training and certifying employees within their own companies to be flaggers.

This course allows you to train flaggers under your employment. One-Day Class.

Lean Construction Education Program, 2nd Edition – **ONLINE**

The updated Lean Construction Education Program, 2nd Edition (LCEP) engages students with numerous activities and group discussions designed to apply Lean Construction principles and practices. Key course activities include the Parade of Trades exercise where participants will learn the effects of varying and unreliable workflow versus smooth and reliable workflow. Students will also learn and practice the Last Planner® System in a simulation that teaches students to engage in a way that produces predictable workflow and rapid learning. After participants complete all five units in the program, they become eligible to sit for an exam to earn the Certificate of Management – Lean Construction (CM-Lean).

Project Manager Development Program

AGC’s Project Manager Development Program (PMDP) is construction-specific training curriculum developed, updated, and field-tested by and for contractors. The five-unit, ~40 hour program covers the essentials of project management for emerging project managers and provides a solid foundation for long-term career development, taking participants through the management of the entire lifecycle of a construction project.

ABOUT AGC MAINE TRAINING –

In our facility in Augusta, we have a training room for thirty-five students. We teach safety courses, professional development, and introduce new products to the people who use them every day.

At AGC you can expect to learn from industry leaders who apply their knowledge on the job site. We offer general courses available to members and non-members geared towards the industry. Our training director works with companies to create custom-tailored training putting together the necessary components.

From new innovative delivery methods using online training or hands-on instruction, AGC Maine offers a learning mechanism for everyone. Oversight for our training and new development is spearheaded by industry leaders on our workforce development committee. Members meet monthly to discuss the training and assess the needs. As expected this process allows for the continued development of opportunities.
