Wednesday, September 11, 2021-Maine’s construction industry gathered at the Harraseeket Inn located in Freeport to conduct an annual safety conference. More than 150 contractors attended the meeting to hear the latest in safety statistics and the results of the national safety program that analyzes individual safety records. During the meeting, Rob Simopoulos of Defendify shared with contractors the latest information regarding cybersecurity and the necessary steps to protect their businesses and clients.
Since 1926 the National AGC Safety Awards Program has been an ongoing effort to offer construction firms an opportunity to evaluate their safety records. The program evaluates their safety record with other contractors according to their size and type of construction work performed.
“Celebrating safety achievements is critical to elevating the importance of safety within the industry and the hard work by Maine’s skilled workers to prevent injury and illness. We are also very proud that Maine reached a landmark in 2020 by capturing the lowest incidence rate for the industry when compared to the other states of similar size,” said Board President Will Purington II.
This year the national award winners received recognition at the meeting include the following firms with their division designation;
ABM Mechanical – Associate/Specialty

“The program is working, we are a competitive industry, and we are leveraging that trait to improve safety continuously. Each year we have more companies participating, and we hope that continued growth enhances safety culture,” Purington stated.
