December 30, 2020, Augusta, Maine-Six Maine construction projects have been selected for the 2020 Build Maine Awards organized by AGC Maine. With many complicated projects to review and the industry’s competitive nature, celebrating the best of the year is typically held with a social event between competing firms. Judges award in basic categories but can award if the projects vary in size, scope, or challenges recognizing each project is very different. This year the award winners, with project details linked, for each division include;

Even though the industry wasn’t able to be together to celebrate, the projects built by Maine’s skilled workers deserve recognition. Completed before the pandemic, we continue to be impressed by the design, engineering, and construction community in our state who adapt to conditions to deliver quality products. Congratulations to the winners, and we look forward to being together soon for an industry-wide celebration,” said AGC Maine’s Matt Marks.

The Build Maine Awards is a competitive process where a panel judges construction projects for the year’s best project. The judging process is confidential and well represented by members of the design, engineering, construction, and owner category to ensure diverse views. The criteria for the awards include;

      • Safety
      • Innovation and Construction Techniques/Materials
      • Contribution to the Community
      • Meeting the Challenge of a Difficult Job
      • Environmental Sensitivity
      • Responsiveness to Client Needs and Customer Satisfaction

“Maine’s skilled workers continue to demonstrate teamwork and safety are the cornerstones of a successful project. Whether it is spending time at a new community center, traveling a busy road, or making sure that residents have clean water, Maine contractors are delivering quality projects and we are thankful for their hard-work,” said Matt Marks.

Projects must complete a review of each criterion along with documentation to support their bid for an award. Judges receive the information in advance, then meet in person to discuss, debate, and select the winners. All of the winners and their featured projects are listed online at www.agcmaine.org/buildmaine.
