Safety Program Produces Results

March 19, 2010 Orlando Florida- Gorham based R.J. Grondin & Sons received national recognition for their safety achievements. Associated General Contractors of America reviewed applicants from across the nation for the annual safety awards. AGC applies tough standards during the process including a short presentation to a panel of the country’s premier safety experts.

“R.J. Grondin & Sons achievement is a result of a serious approach to safety. While they may have not anticipated such a level of adornment for their success, it really was no surprise. AGC Maine watches their safety program producing results and often refers to their efforts as an example of construction excellence,” said John O’Dea CEO of AGC Maine.

R.J. Grondin & Sons completed three and one half years without a loss time injury entering 2010. While that sounds significant, the number of hours worked without an injury exceeds 990,000 hours.

“The employees at our company have so much pride in their work and our safety program. Everyone works hard to reduce risks and watch out for each other…we are anxious, but focused to reach one million hours and beyond,” said Kevin Murphy, Safety & Human Resources Director.

R.J. Grondin & Sons continues to update their training programs and safety procedures as advancements in the industry occur. Members of the team recently attended newly released trenching & excavation training and overhead energized line training.
