Wes Pooler honored by the New England Healthcare Engineers’ Society

Rockport, ME – The Penobscot Company is proud to announce that recently appointed Vice President, Wes Pooler, was recognized as “Engineer of the Year” by the New England Healthcare Engineers’ Society (NEHES) on September 25, 2017 at the annual NEHES Conference in Burlington, VT.

The award recognizes a member who distinguishes himself/herself in service to the Society and to the healthcare engineering profession during the most recent calendar year.  “I am honored to have been recognized as Engineer of the Year,” says Pooler. “It has been a privilege working with the talented healthcare leaders on the NEHES Board.”

For the past six years, Pooler served as Director of Facilities Management at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, VT.  During his tenure, he led a team of 60 Facilities Management employees and 200 Environmental Services employees, in addition to overseeing the contracted clinical engineering department.  He also served as a key sustainability leader, chairing an employee Green Team and supporting waste and energy reduction projects resulting in significant savings.   Prior to working at the UVM Medical Center, Pooler served as Director of Facilities Management at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, ME, where he led the successful reconstruction of their Medical Arts Center after a fire closed most of the facility in 2010.
