AnnualMeeting_2016-0226South Portland, Maine January 27th, 2016– The Associated General Contractors of Maine held their 65th Annual Meeting at the South Portland Marriott Hotel recently. This year the membership selected Jon Shaw of Shaw Brothers Construction as AGC Maine’s 2016 President of the Board of Directors.

Jon founded Shaw Brothers Construction with his brother Dan in 1977 and the company joined AGC Maine just a few years later in 1983. “AGC Maine was has been like a secret weapon for our company. We have met so many people and had so many opportunities that we would have never had without AGC,” Jon told the membership.

Jon was raised in Gorham, Maine and graduated from Gorham High School. He worked on his family’s dairy farm during high school. When his father started building houses Jon and Dan saw an opportunity and began doing the excavation work on his projects. Their business quickly expanded to include public and private work. Today the company employs 225 Mainers and is one of Southern Maine’s largest construction firms.

The membership also elected Mike Sullivan of Nortrax and Tom Sturgeon of Crooker Construction to serve three-year terms on the Board of Directors. “We are pleased to have  Mike and Tom serve on the Board. Each will offer new ideas as AGC Maine tackles the ever changing challenges facing Maine’s infrastructure. Jon’s tenure as Board President is essential for an industry starting to rebuild,” said AGC Maine CEO Matthew Marks.
